  • Registration will ONLY be done through the conference.
  • Guests can only purchase the Meal Package for $150 but then they will not be able to attend ANY Breakout Sessions. SDACC will invoice the conference for both teacher and guest registrations.


Each attendee MUST have a VALID passport. Passport must have at least 6 months of validity beyond your travel date.

Conferences will book the flights, The convention begins Monday evening at 7pm (with registration through the afternoon). Teachers can fly in to Chicago O’Hare Airport (ORD) on Monday (late morning or early afternoon). The convention is scheduled to end at 12pm on Thursday. Teachers will be able to fly out Thursday, August 9th, in the afternoon.

So far the NAD is not providing shuttle buses to transport teachers from airport to hotels. The SDACC will work with conferences to make a final decision regarding Airport to Hotel and Hotel to Airport transportation. Options under discussion include public transit or private shuttle/bus.

Teachers who may want to drive need to be aware that parking is very limited in Chicago and very expensive. The parking at the hotel will cost up to $65/night USD. If a teacher decides to drive, they will only be reimbursed the cost of the most economical flight (not parking fees, mileage, or fuel).

SDACC Activity - Optional

We are having a group event on the free evening (Wednesday, August 8th): Chicago White Sox vs. New York Yankees baseball game. Teachers’ costs (game ticket and transportation) will be paid for by SDACC. It is not mandatory that the teachers attend; they may want to do something else on their own (note that the SDACC will not cover costs for other activities). If teachers want their guests to attend, they will need to cover their costs. Total cost for ticket and transportation will be $30 USD. The SDACC will invoice the Conference for any guest costs. Teachers will then be billed for their portion. Employing organizations will give each teacher per diem for supper on Wednesday night. Please note there will not be time to go back to the hotel after the meetings on Wednesday, before we leave for the baseball game. Teachers will need to come prepared to go to the ballpark right after meetings as the buses are scheduled to pick us up at 5:45pm at McCormick Place.

Due to the low Canadian dollar, the SDACC is requesting Hilton Palmer House because it is the least expensive (it is very nice). Cost per night here is $169.00 USD/night (for up to 2 per room). With tax, it is $196.72 USD/night. If there are 3 people in a room the cost is $189/night and 4 people in a room $209.00/night. We won’t know what hotel we will get until we send in the rooming list.

Hotel Shuttle to Convention Centre

NAD will coordinate shuttle service between the NAD assigned hotels and convention centre during the meeting days.

Meal Package:

There is only one Meal Package and the cost is $150 USD. This covers Tuesday (Breakfast, Lunch, Supper), Wednesday (Breakfast & Lunch), Thursday (Breakfast). SDACC will bill conferences for both teacher and guest Meal Packages.

Guests & Hotel Room Cost:

Guests (spouse, children, etc.) can attend. Teachers will be responsible for ½ of the room cost. The SDACC will invoice the conferences directly for all teacher and guest costs.
